Magpul has announced it is now shipping out a dedicated 300 Blackout PMAG.
In a statement, Magpul points out that while .300 Blackout ammo runs smoothly in 5.56 magazines for some, others find it “problematic.” Thus, “at the request of some demanding professional users” comes the new PMAG 30 AR 300 B GEN M3, which addresses the issues inherent in handling various types of 300 BLK ammo, thereby improving reliability.

300 Blackout rounds come in multiple shapes and sizes, and some don’t properly interface with contact areas in a 5.56 mag, creating stoppages. Magpul says that with its dedicated 300 Blackout PMAG, the round stack has been optimized for the growing assortment of 300 BLK projectiles.
“Dust or suppressor fouling magnify the problem—especially with certain subsonic rounds,” Magpul said. “This creates side pressure within the mag, adding friction and slowing the stack movement upwards. This is a geometry issue that our PMAG 30 AR 300 B is engineered to solve.”
Along with all this, the PMAG 30 AR 300 B GEN M3 offers a safer way to feed your 300 Blackout rifle. According to the product page, when using 5.56x45mm mags, the potential to chamber and fire a 300 Blackout round in a 5.56x45mm rifle with disastrous results calls for diligent ammo management by the end user. The PMAG 30 AR 300 B solves this by featuring a distinct rib design and smoother upper-half texture to differentiate it in a visual and tactile sense from any other PMAG. This mitigates any dangerous cross-loading issues.
