The MegaStream HP USB is the newest addition to the Stream series of handheld flashlights. It is a high-candela powerhouse. The flashlight delivers 310,000 candela and a beam distance of 1,114 meters. It offers impressive performance for a light of its size.

Candela vs. Lumens

As a matter of clarity, it is important to understand lumens vs candela. Lumens measure the total amount of visible light a light source emits. In contrast, candela measures the intensity of that light in a specific direction. Think of it this way: lumens tell you how much total light a bulb is putting out. Meanwhile, candela tells you how bright that light appears in a particular direction. This is like when looking at a flashlight’s beam at a distance.

The light provides 1,350 lumens on high, 470 lumens on medium, and 145 lumens on low. It offers run times of two, four, and 15 hours, respectively. The MegaStream HP USB is powered by a 3,500mAh Streamlight SL-B34 lithium-ion battery pack with an onboard safety circuit. Charging is simple: a sliding sleeve reveals the USB-C port. An LED indicator shows the charging status: red for charging, green for charging.

Built to withstand tough conditions, the MegaStream HP USB is constructed from machined aluminum alloy. It has a Type II MIL-Spec anodized finish for abrasion resistance. The flashlight features an unbreakable glass lens and is IPX7 waterproof to 1 meter for 30 minutes. Also, it is impact-resistance tested to 1 meter.

The MegaStream HP USB measures 6.61 inches. It has a 1-inch body and 2.24-inch head diameter and weighs 9 ounces with the battery. It is available in Black and ships with a USB-C cord, removable pocket clip, and holster. The light has an MSRP of $219.00. It comes with Streamlight’s Limited Lifetime Warranty.

While it doesn’t hit the solar flare power, it is an exceptionally bright light in a small package. It can light up things over 3800 feet away, serving 99% of our needs.
