POF Revolution: An AR-15 Chambered in .308? You Bet

The week wouldn’t feel complete without a video of Athlon Outdoors contributor Mike Detty rocking a sick-looking gun in the beautiful Sonoran Desert southeast of Tucson, Ariz. For this latest installment, Detty puts the POF Revolution—a new lightweight .308 rifle built on an AR-15 platform (yes, you read that correctly)—through its paces.

The result of two years of development on the part of POF-USA, the POF Revolution features many 5.56 AR parts, allowing for a shorter overall receiver size and reduced weight. The rifle’s receiver size from pin to pin shares the same dimensions as an AR-15, the company says.

The POF Revolution features many 5.56 AR parts, including the charging handle, bolt carrier, roller cam pin, buffer, heat-sink barrel nut, handguard and 5-position gas piston operating system. The barrel extension, bolt assembly, upper and lower receiver are all the exact same size as those one would find on an AR-15.

The POF Revolution .308—which sports an overall weight of 7.3 pounds—also features the company’s slim Edge handguard with four built-in QD mounts, as well as a fully ambidextrous billet receiver set; NP3 coated bolt carrier group; single stage match grade trigger; 14.5-inch M-LOK MRR; 4.5-pound drop-in trigger; 34-inch overall length; 16.5-inch barrel with a 1:10 twist and more.

Watch the video below for Detty’s thoughts on the POF Revolution .308. Stay tuned for his full review coming up in the Fall 2017 issue of “Ballistic.” To subscribe, visit outdoorgroupstore.com.
