In a first for the company, Walther has released a .45ACP handgun: the full-sized, 12+1 capacity, striker-fired PPQ 45.

The company started with the PPQ frame for its 9mm and .40 S&W models and slightly redesigned the slide to add more material to tame the operating pressures, recoil energy and extra width of the .45 ACP cartridge. By retaining the controls of its striker-fired PPQ, including an exceptionally smooth trigger that releases after 4.8 to 5.5 pounds of pressure, Walther built upon the success of the previous PPQ models and retained the ergonomics that PPQ shooters have developed familiarity with.

The new PPQ 45 is designed for police, military, and civilian use alike, with the name itself standing for the Police Pistol Quick (PPQ) Defense Trigger. To adapt it to different shooters’ hands across a department, unit or family, the PPQ 45 accepts interchangeable backstraps and features fully ambidextrous controls.

The sights are adjustable for windage and elevation, and the barrel features polygonal rifling for enhanced accuracy. The polymer lower frame includes proprietary texturing, and the slide is protected with a durable Tenifer finish.
