The Schrade Knives Truix Pivot Lock Folding Knife Bolsters the Alpha Line

For over 100 years Schrade Knives has lived up to its reputation for quality cutlery. With iconic knives like Uncle Henry and Old Timer, Schrade is no stranger to long-time knife enthusiasts. Although the company has outsourced its knives to China over recent years, it has introduced the American-made Alpha line. Part of this line is the Schrade Truix Pivot Lock, a perfect representation of the high-quality series.

The Schrade Truix Pivot Lock Folding Knife

Constructed of premium materials, the Truix is a part of the high-end Alpha line of Smith & Wesson-owned Schrade knives. As a result, the Truix, like the entire Alpha line, is made right here in the U.S.A. Which is a break from the Chinese construction of the company’s knives over recent years.

The 3.5-inch blade features CPM-S35VN stainless steel construction. This is considered premium steel and is known for its balance of great toughness, wear resistance, edge retention, and corrosion resistance. Similarly, the bead-blasted tanto style blade is constructed of .125-inch-thick stock and has a hollow grind. As a result, this lends itself to a very keen edge.

The .50-inch-thick handle has black and gray G10 coupled with a stainless-steel bolster for a stylish overall look. With texturing adorning the grip scales, the Truix provides a solid grip in any condition. Likewise, the slightly rounded grip and jimping at the butt add to the retention qualities of the knife.

The bolster contains the pivot lock, which is very similar to a crossbar lock, like the Benchmade Axis lock. When open, the lock holds the Truix open at its full 7.5-inch overall length. The lock, coupled with the smooth pivot action allows the Truix to be opened using either the thumb stud or the pivot lock itself.

The Truix is set up for right-hand tip-up carry only featuring a deep carry pocket clip. Unfortunately, the pocket clip is not reversible, so there is no true left-hand option.

Editor’s Note:

Although the MSRP of the Truix is $199.99 the street price is actually around $167.95. To get a better price visit sites like KnifeCenter.com, Smoky Mountain Knife Works (SMKW.com), or BladeHQ.com. These sites always have great prices, great customer service and often have deals on their knives.
