Sig Sauer Firearms and Silencers to Receive New Identification Marking

The following is a press release from Sig Sauer

SIG SAUER, Inc., announces that all new serialized firearm models and silencers will soon feature a new identification mark registering the manufacturing location as “Made in Newington, NH.” This change in registration from the formally marked “Exeter, NH” reinforces the company’s commitment to serving as the foremost complete weapon system provider as it continues to design, engineer and manufacture a complete line of firearms and silencers at its state-of-the-art facility in Newington, New Hampshire.

In 2014, SIG SAUER invested more than $18 million to develop a new corporate headquarters at Pease International Tradeport in Newington, NH. Encompassing 206,000 square feet, the leading edge manufacturing plant includes quality control testing facilities, a multi-position test-fire range, and a modern workspace designed from the ground up for efficiency and maximum capacity. Today, SIG SAUER serves as the second largest employer in the state and is widely recognized as the fastest growing firearms maker in the United States.

With a rich history of German and Swiss influence, the new legacy of the SIG SAUER brand has been entwined with the American-made mindset since 1985. The company opened its first American location in Tysons Corner, Virginia, under the name SIGARMS. Two years later, the firearms manufacturer relocated to a larger location in Virginia where the company’s classic handguns (P220/P230/P225/P226/P227) were imported and assembled. In 1990, SIGARMS enlarged its footprint on American soil by opening new manufacturing facilities in Exeter, New Hampshire, where it soon began production of the venerable P229 pistol. Fifteen years later, current President and CEO, Ron Cohen, was hired, bringing with him a new outlook that would forever transform how the company was perceived. Soon after, SIGARMS changed its name to SIG SAUER, aligning the company name with the brand that Cohen had strived to create.

“The uncompromising standard of SIG SAUER products perfectly aligns with the traditional pride that is shared by millions of American citizens across the country,” said Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of SIG SAUER, Tom Taylor. “To us, business is personal, and with that belief comes the unrelenting commitment to perfection and inextinguishable passion that are hallmarks of the American spirit. SIG SAUER will forever be dedicated to the people it serves, the industry in which we work and the continued preservation of the 2nd Amendment rights of our fellow citizens.”
