The Sig Sauer Match Grade Elite Performance Ammunition line, designed for AR autoloading platforms and bolt-action rifles, is expanding with the addition of 223 Rem.

“The 223 Rem is one the most popular calibers on the market today, and our customers have been asking for it since we entered the ammunition business,” said Dan Powers, president of the Sig Sauer Ammunition Division. “The accuracy and reliability of our new 223 Rem Match Grade rifle ammunition make it an ideal choice for precision shooters – whether shooting in competitions or hunting varmints.”
According to the press release, Sig’s new 223 Rem Open Tip Match (OTM) round features a 77gr Sierra MatchKing bullet with a muzzle velocity of 2,750 fps and muzzle energy of 1,293 ft-lbs. All Sig Sauer Match Grade Elite Performance ammo features a temperature-stable propellant that delivers consistent muzzle velocity, regardless of weather conditions.
Meanwhile, high-quality primers ensure that velocity variations are kept to a minimum. Shell case metallurgy is also optimized in Sig’s Match Grade OTM cartridge for consistent and reliable bullet retention round to round, the release says. All rifle ammo manufactured by Sig is loaded on state-of-the-art equipment, which is monitored electromechanically in order to guarantee conformity and charge weight consistency.
