The Sig Sauer SIG556xi rifle takes the innovations which began with the SIG556 (CLICK HERE to read about the SIG556 SWAT!) series to the next level. New for 2014, the SIG556xi has a Swiss folding stock, a removable cheek riser – so shooters have the option to mount an optic without a riser, and flip-up front and rear sights. Additionally, the SIG556xi is chambered for three different calibers: .300 BLK, 5.56mm NATO, and 7.62x39mm. It also has ambidextrous charging handles.
Both left-handed and right-handed shooters can use this multi-caliber rifle, as it also has an ambidextrous magazine & bolt release and safety selector. In terms of barrel lengths, the SIG556xi will be available in a 14.5″, 10″ and 16″ variant for each caliber. New for 2014, the SIG556xi also has an M1913 quad-rail handguard, a three-position (adverse, normal and suppressed) gas piston system, and a three-pronged flash hider.
