SK Customs Morelos 1911 Heralds Generalissimo Jose Morelos

Known for its exquisitely themed 1911 series, SK Customs releases its latest work of art with the Morelos. The third edition to the Mexican War of Independence series, the Morelos heralds the life of Generalissimo Jose M. Morelos. Using a two-tone black and silver 1911 canvas, the pistol highlights the success of the Emperor and Premier Presidente.

Fit for a Premier Presidente the Morelos tells its tale on a Full Size Government Model Colt 1911. Likewise, the highly polished canvas further brings out the vivid details of the piece highlighted in .999 silver-plating. Chambered in .38 Super, pearl-styled Kirinite grip panels with the embedded silver Rampant Colt round out the aesthetic.

A Mexican Priest, statesman, and military commander, Morelos is considered a national hero in Mexico. After leading the Mexican War of Independence movement, he assumed leadership following the execution of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in 1811. One of the first true Mexican nationalists, Morelo had a vision of a unified, free Mexico.

The story begins on the left side of the slide with a depiction of the Congress of Chilpancingo on the day of signing the Solemn Act of the Declaration of Independence of North America and the first Mexican legal historical document establishing the separation of Mexico from Spanish rule.

The scene sits in a frame of southwestern patterns and Cannas floral scroll. At the rear, behind the cocking serrations, is the 1810 Mexican Independence Coat of Arms.

On the right side of the slide is Hidalgo summoning Morelos to join him shortly after his “Grito de Dolores” (Cry of Delores). This was the start of the revolt for Mexico’s Independence. Like the left side, southwestern and Cannas floral patterns frame the scene. The rear of the slide features the Coat of Arms of Morelos just above the serialized number xxx of 200.

Riding atop the slide is a portrait of Generalissimo Morelos just forward of the ejection port. To the rear of the slide is an illustration of the equestrian statue of José María Morelos, which is located in Guadalajara. A small band of southwest patterned engraving sits just behind the rear sight.
