“The Self Defense pistol series is designed for personal and home protection in a lightweight, reliable package and at a price point that offers a great value. We are excited to expand the popular Smith & Wesson SD pistol series in new color options that appeal to our consumers,” Jan Mladek, GM of Smith & Wesson and M&P brands, said in a statement.
Chambered in 9mm and .40 S&W, the Smith & Wesson SD lineup is built to get the job done for home and personal defense applications. The striker-fired SD9 and SD40 pistols feature a solid, molded polymer frame; ergonomic grip; white-dot front sight and white two-dot rear sight; accessory rail for optional lights, lasers and rail-mounted accessories; and a smooth, consistent trigger pull.
Both the FDE and gray frame finish Smith & Wesson SD pistols boast a stainless steel slide and barrel with a Armornite finish for increased corrosion resistance.
The SD9 pistol has a 16+1 round capacity, while the SD40 features a 14+1 capacity. Both models sport a four-inch barrel and an overall length of 7.2 inches.
