Ohio-based Firearm and cartridge manufacturer SSK Industries has unveiled their .950 JDJ rifle. Billed as the largest centerfire rifle ever made, only three of these guns have ever been built. The .950 JDJ highlighted in the video below is a prototype which weighs 50 pounds. The other two rifles which were manufactured weigh in at 110 pounds. Not for the faint of heart, the .950 JDJ utilizes a .95 caliber 2400 grain bullet which travels at a speed of 2100 fps using 240 grains of powder. When fired, this beast generates 25,400 foot-pounds of muzzle energy and 277 foot-pounds of recoil energy, which is equivalent to firing 10 .30-06 rifles at the same time. Each bullet costs $40 to purchase.
Founded in 1977 by famed firearm cartridge designer and writer J.D. Jones, SSK Industries is best known for their JDJ and “Whisper” series of cartridges. In addition, SSK is a proven manufacturer of a variety of tactical, sporting and custom rifles and handguns.
