Steyr Releases the Zephyr II Rimfire Rifle for 2018

Steyr Arms came loaded for bear with new firearms at SHOT Show this year; one model that caught our eye is the Zephyr II rimfire rifle, which takes its design and function cues from the original Steyr Zephyr manufactured from 1955 through 1971.

Available in .17 HMR, .22 LR and .22 WMR, the Zephyr II features a cold hammer-forged 19.7-inch barrel with a Mannox finish; European walnut stock with a Bavarian cheek piece and fish-scale pattern checkering on the grips and handguard; typical Steyr Mannlicher bolt handle and a tang safety. The rifle also weighs in at 5.8 pounds and has an overall length of 39.2 inches.

Touted as being ideal for shooters both young and old, Steyr says the Zephyr II “follows up the excellent build quality of its ‘big-bore sisters’ and sets totally new standards in the hunting-style, bolt-action, rimfire rifle segment.”

The Zephyr II ships out with one five-round detachable box magazine. The suggested retail price on this gun is $995. If you want to go with a 1/2×28 threaded barrel, the price jumps up to $1,020.
