Stoeger Industries brought some big bore action to this year’s SHOT Show with its new STR-45 chambered in .45 ACP. Building on the popularity of the STR-9 series, the STR-45 will be familiar to fans of the STR series. Not to mention, the new offering delivers 13+1 rounds of the heavy-hitting caliber.

Building on the STR series, the STR-45 features a black synthetic frame with stippling throughout the grip and key areas. Likewise, the trigger guard undercut promotes a high grip, while the high-cut beavertail lowers the bore axis and prevents slide bite. Ensuring the perfect fit for optimal retention, the backstrap is interchangeable between Medium and Large.

A Nitride hardened matte black slide with aggressive forward and rear cocking serrations ride atop the frame. The STR-45 is available with your choice of drift-adjustable tritium night sights or quick Read 3-dot sights. Likewise, the pistol is available with or without an optic cut (for Shield RMS/SMS footprint) based on your operational requirements.

Housed within the slide is the 4.6-inch barrel chambered in .45 ACP. Correspondingly, a tactile loaded chamber indicator provides visual and physical confirmation without requiring a press check. The STR-45 features a flat-faced trigger with a slight “J” hook and trigger blade safety. Additionally, just forward of the trigger guard is a three-slot Picatinny rail for attaching a light or laser.

Designed with both right- and left-handed shooters in mind, the STR-45 features an ambidextrous slide stop. Likewise, the magazine release is also reversible for left-handed shooters. Depending on the model, the STR-45 ships with two magazines with 10- or 13-round capacity—depending on your state.
