Following on the success of last year’s Black Mamba, Volquartsen Firearms announced its latest pistol, the Habu. Chambered in .22 LR, the Habu takes its name from the Japanese pit viper, known to strike with accuracy and precision. As such, competitors will find similar characteristics in this Ruger MK IV-style pistol.

Volquartsen Habu
The Habu combines features from Volquartsen’s Scorpion 22 LR pistol, including push-button takedown of the Ruger MK IV standard aluminum frame. It adds Volquartsen’s signature Volthane Grip. The unique grip design features an aggressive, non-slip diamond checkering to promote control. Additionally, the proprietary material withstands moisture and cleaners, according to Volquartsen.
The pistol adds the Volquartsen LLV Competition Upper. It also includes a stainless steel barrel and laser hardened stainless steel breech. The upper comes housed in an aluminum shroud. This design provides match-grade accuracy in a lightweight package, according to Volquartsen. The Habu comes in both 4.5- and 6-inch barreled versions. Meanwhile, the integral Picatinny rail on top and bottom comes standard.
Inside, a Volquartsen Competition Bolt with DLC coating ensures smooth operation and functioning, according to Volquartsen. The Habu’s Ruger MK IV frame is also retrofitted with the Volquartsen Accurizing Kit, providing a 2.25-pound trigger pull. Lastly, the Habu retails for $1,528.
