Springfield Armory Ronin 1911 Details
While the Ronin is the result of modern manufacturing, it’s also traditional in its approach to quality and performance, Springfield says. And from what we can see, this gun looks like a winner.
Configured as a full-size 5-inch gun, the Ronin feature a forged steel slide and frame. A hammer-forged barrel delivers durability and strength. The pistol sports a two-tone finish, with a stainless steel frame and carbon steel slide. The flats of both the slide and frame are thoroughly polished. Meanwhile, the remainder of the pistol features a matte finish. Additionally, the carbon steel slide features a hot salt bluing treatment for a classic look.
Though classic in appearance, the appointments deliver modern touches. The beavertail grip safety includes a “memory bump” for solid engagement. A fiber-optic front and tactical rack white dot rear comprise the sighting system. Finally, an extended safety lever rounds out the performance-driven features.
The Ronin comes with Crossed Cannon premium laminate wood grips. A stainless steel checkered flat mainspring housing, Springfield Armory 2nd Generation Speed Trigger and forward slide serrations complete the classic looking 1911. Basepad-equipped magazines provide a 9+1 overall capacity in 9mm, 8+1 in .45 ACP.
Again, we like what we see so far. That MSRP of $849 definitely hits a sweet spot for those thinking of grabbing their first 1911. The 9mm and .45 ACP are nice options, but we’re also anticipating a 10mm version at some point in the future; but that’s just speculation.
On the heels of the Hellcat, this is another solid release for Springfield. For even more info, please visit springfield-armory.com.
