The Para-Claw was the brainchild of Fugi Escobido.
Escobido is a former professional bounty hunter. He realized that a knife could be a highly effective handgun-retention tool during close-quarter struggles. However, accessing that knife during an in-close altercation proved difficult.

Eventually, the trial and error process brought about a self-made bracelet knife. Escobido wore it on his dominant hand. If anyone went for his gun, he could use his strong-side elbow to defend the gun in the holster. Meanwhile, his non-dominant hand accessed the knife.
David Bloch of Outdoor Edge took Escobido’s concept to the next level. The result is the Para-Claw.
