Through extensive testing, these bullets exhibit rapid expansion and fragmentation, maximizing damage to vitals for ethical and effective hunting.

Several key enhancements have been made to ensure reliable expansion. Unlike traditional MatchKing bullets, MKX bullets are manufactured using a draw-and-trim method that produces a significantly thinner jacket mouth. This allows for rapid expansion upon impact, preventing the bullet from behaving like a full metal jacket (FMJ) and simply penciling through the target. Additionally, light skives are applied to the nose of the bullet to further promote expansion.

The MatchKing X bullets also feature a softer lead core compared to MatchKing bullets, aiding deformation and energy transfer. The harder lead used in MatchKing bullets resists expansion, making them less effective for hunting applications. At the same time, MKX bullets retain the same concentricity standards and overall jacket thickness—except at the nose—as their MatchKing counterparts, ensuring optimal in-flight stability.
