S&W Performance Center M&P9 Carry Comp Series
The Shield Plus 4-inch barrel model ships with 10-round, 13-round, and 15-round magazines. Those enable users to choose their preferred combination of size and capacity. It makes for a versatile system out of the box.
The M&P 2.0 4.22-inch barrel models come in both metal and polymer frame configurations. They come with a 15- or 17-round capacity, depending on the frame size.
The M&P9 Carry Comp Series includes key features to improve the overall shooting experience, accordignng to Smith & Wesson. The strategically designed Power Port, located at the end of the barrel at twelve o’clock, diverts gas upwards. It helps reduce felt recoil, improving overall control.
Optics-ready slides enable utilizing a red dot optic. A new ClearSight Cut diverts gasses away from the optic, helping maintain an unobstructed view for the shooter. For those preferring iron sights, the pistols include a tritium front night sight and blacked-out serrated rear sight.
Boasting a new aesthetic, M&P9 Carry Comp Slides feature aggressively angled front and rear serrations. The design increases reliability and improves manipulation against tough elements. Each pistol also utilizes flat-face triggers, grey Armornite-finished slides, and ship with a Performance Center cleaning kit.

Editor’s Take:
S&W just doubled down nicely on its carry pistols, delivering a series of modern designs built for EDC with options for carry-optics. Such is the desired format in today’s carry market. But this series gives multiple options on build size, making it easy to pair a range run with an EDC or bedside defender. We currently have one of each build headed to writer’s as we speak, with full reports coming soon.
