Rocking the Mossberg Maverick 88 Security Shotgun with a Folding Stock

The Mossberg shotgun lineup speaks for itself. It is proven and reliable, but it is also vast. The 500 series and 590 series often find themselves at the forefront of any conversation. However, there are others that are sometimes forgotten about in that “vastness.” One such shotgun is the Mossberg Maverick 88 Security.

Prior to attending the 2018 Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous, the reps at Mossberg asked us if there was anything specific they should bring. We put the Maverick 88 Security at the top of the list. They said, “Sure.” Then we asked if they could bring the top-folding stock option. They again obliged.

Why We Chose the Mossberg Maverick 88 Security

Why did we want that version? Well, for starters, it’s a great option. When there’s a practical “cool” factor to any gun, we get excited. The top-folding stock version of Mossberg Maverick 88 Security is practical and fun. The folding stock allows shooters to very comfortably shoulder the shotgun. Shooters can quickly flip the stock up and fire “pistol grip” style. One would almost call it, “Practicool.” Think we’ll trademark that phrase.

However, we’re also a fan of the folding stock option because of its brief appearance in the 1993 blockbuster “Jurassic Park.” While the Mossberg Maverick 88 wasn’t used in the film, the folding stock gets it screen time.
