Versatile .50 BMG sledgehammer built to stop hardened targets with surgical precision!

In the upcoming April 2014 issue of SPECIAL WEAPONS FOR MILITARY & POLICE, author David Bahde writes, “Using a precision .50 BMG generally takes some thought. Having spent tons of time behind semi-auto variants, they can be downright comfortable to shoot, at least when it comes to recoil. While the concussive effect can still be problematic for some, their recoil is neither excessive nor uncontrollable…Yet, while the semi-auto operation can help reduce recoil and increase comfort, it is anything but conducive to precision accuracy. Move to a well-built bolt-action rifle and the accuracy can be rather impressive, however, the recoil tends to increase as well. Muzzle brakes certainly help—in fact, they make shooting these rifles possible—but the recoil can be pretty significant. Weight can be your friend, and setting the rifle up to fit you properly is paramount. There are several rifles out there that do this well. One of the better choices is the Ashbury Precision Ordnance ASW50.”

The action is smooth, strong and uses a five-round, double-stack magazine with a front-mounted, paddle-type magazine release.
