Barrett Produces 1,000th MRAD MK22 MOD 0 Sniper Rifle System

Barrett announced the recent production of the company’s 1,000th MRAD (Multi-Role Adaptive Design) Mark 22 MOD 0 rifle. The historic number comes in support of the United States Special Operations Command Advanced sniper Rifle and United States Army Precision Sniper Rifle contracts.

The MK22 becomes the latest military acquisition, greatly enhancing service personnel capabilities. It replaces several currently fielded sniper rifles within the U.S. military. The MK22 brings both precision and modularity in its design. It provides even greater flexibility within the highly successful MRAD rifle platform, according to Barrett.

The multi-caliber bolt-action sniper rifle converts between 7.62x51mm, .300 Norma Magnum and .338 Norma Magnum chamberings. It enables operators to easily fit their caliber/round to mission.

“We are proud of this significant achievement, especially during this time of increased supplier challenges and unprecedented demand for the entire product line,” said Joel Miller, Barrett’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

In April, Barrett announced it had won a big contract, a five-year $49.09 million award for the U.S. Army Precision Sniper Rifle Program. Barrett will provide the MK22 MOD 0 for that contract. It ships with a Leupold Mark 5 HD scope and accessory kit.

In 2019, Barrett made history with the first adoption of the MRAD by the U.S. military.
