Dan Wesson TCP Blends Full-Size Features into Compact Package

Dan Wesson recently announced its newest mid-size handgun, the Tactical Compact Pistol (TCP). The TCP combines a match-grade bull barrel with the company’s new railed, alloy frame for a carry gun that delivers high levels of shooting as well in a 1911 platform.

Dan Wesson TCP Features

The Dan Wesson TCP features a compact, stainless steel slide beveled in a tri-top design. The smoother profile promotes snag-free holstering and drawing, according to Dan Wesson. Meanwhile, aggressive slide serrations promote loading, unloading and other manipulations.

A top rib on the TCP slide helps reduce glare, plus it features Dan Wesson’s new U-notch rear sight with a .156-inch-wide notch. Paired with a brass-beaded front sight, this sight combination puts a shooter eyes on target fast.

For superior accuracy, the TCP sports a 4-inch-long bull barrel. The barrel features a 30-degree crown and is flush cut for easier disassembly. There’s also a tactical rail under the barrel so a light or laser can be attached.

The TCP’s grips are also new from Dan Wesson, with a tapered profile that is slim at the top and full-width at the bottom, giving shooters with smaller hands an easier reach to the trigger. With three facets that mimic the distinctive slide, the serrated features on the grip encourage a high, deep grip, as does the undercut trigger guard.

The grip frame on the TCP, by the way, is full-sized, providing a very stable platform for a shooter’s hands.

With a similar recoil system to the Dan Wesson ECO pistol, the DW TCP features a flat-wire recoil spring rated for 15,000 rounds–three times the round count of a typical 1911 dual recoil spring set up.

The Dan Wesson one-piece magwell, flat K-style trigger, and square hammer round out the TCP’s features, while the complete pistol tips the scales at just 32 ounces.

Available in 9mm Luger and .45 ACP, and done in a Black Duty finish, the DW TCP is at home in a carry holster, on a nightstand or at the range.
