SIG Sauer CROSS TRAX: Lightweight Folder Built for Backcountry

The new SIG Sauer CROSS TRAX offers a lightweight, portable hunting rifle complete with a folding stock and chambered in 308 Win. If you’re looking for a solid bolt-action platform in a traditional chambering capable of going deep into wild country, the CROSS TRAX hits several marks.

SIG Sauer CROSS TRAX Details

Built off the CROSS receiver, the CROSS TRAX comprises a minimalist design. This one is all about being lightweight and portable. It features an 11.5-inch lightweight handguard and Leg Bone minimalist folding stock. An MCX-RATTLER grip and low-profile bolt knob add to the theme. A 16-inch stainless steel barrel and 308 chambering make it a solid choice for most any North American game.

The rifle delivers a five-round magazine capacity, shipping with one AICS-type polymer magazine. A Black Anodized finish protects metal components. The package weighs in at 6.1 pounds overall, and it folds down into a 26-inch package in length. Sling it, stuff it in a pack, and hit the trail into wild country.

Editor’s Take:

We’ve been highly impressed with the SIG Cross platform since its inception. The line continues to mature, offering specialized precision models like the CROSS STX and CROSS PRS. Now SIG turns its attention back to the hunting market once more, crafting a lightweight sporter worthy of taking up any mountain or into the backcountry. Chambered in 308 Win, it provides a solid base to build from. There will be no shortage of accessories and ammo choices available. We hope to see some additional caliber support on this specific platform as well, offering even further choices for the modern hunter. At first glance, this looks like another solid addition to the ever-growing CROSS stable of bolt-action rifles.
