Texas-based XS Sights has unveiled its new XS F8 Night Sights which offer fast target acquisition in all lighting conditions.
These high-vis personal defense sights boast a figure-eight, inline sight picture for an easy two-point alignment, and—thanks to the .160-inch wide high-contrast front sight with a photoluminescent orange colored ring surrounding the tritium—they’re designed to increase front sight focus as well. The proprietary XS orange paint is made with a focus on yellow, which is one of the most visible low light colors. This makes it easier to see in rapidly changing light conditions.
In addition, the XS F8 Night Sights’ orange ring is capable of absorbing ambient light, allowing it to glow in low light levels, thereby helping shooters find the front sight before the tritium becomes visible.
Meanwhile, the wide notch rear sight increases front sight visibility by allowing more light around the sides of the front sight. This sight gap helps shooters locate the front sight faster when drawing from a holster and shooting on the move, the press release says. The tritium vial on the rear sight allows for fast alignment with the front sight while the chamfered notch eliminates the sight’s bottom edges. This draws focus to the sight’s top edges for proper alignment. Finally, the company says the overhung rear sight reduces glare in bright daylight, and its angled ledge helps in one-handed slide manipulations during high-pressure situations.
“Night sights don’t just need to glow in the dark, they need to be visible at all times,” XS Sights marketing manager Zack Kinsley said in the press release. “Gun fights don’t happen in perfect light or complete darkness. They happen in-between these two broad spectrums, and our F8 Night Sights are optimized for fast and accurate target acquisition in varying light conditions. In a defensive shooting situation, this can make all the difference for law enforcement and civilians alike.”
