Tuesday afternoon we broke news that the U.S. Customs and Border Protection selected three Glock 9mm pistols as its new standard duty pistol, replacing the .40 S&W HK P2000. Amongst the three Glocks selected were the Glock 19, Glock 26 and mysterious Glock 47. Yes, you’re reading that correctly: the Glock 47.

We double-checked to make sure we hadn’t missed a Glock release in recent months. We didn’t. Turns out Glock developed the Glock 47 specifically for the CBP contract. The U.S. Secret Service recently announced its adoption of the Glock 47 as well.
What We Know About the Glock 47
The most important detail about the new G47 is this: You can’t have one. Sorry to play spoiler, but when we said Glock created the pistol for the CBP, we meant it. It’s not available to consumers. It even has “DHS CBP” engraved on the side of the slide.
“Well that sucks,” you probably just said. It does. But we still scored some details on the G47, as we’re sure your interest is piqued at what the CBP wanted.
The Glock 47 incorporates a full-size slide with a G45 frame. Tactical Life confirmed that the Glock 47 has the same barrel length of a Glock 17. However, a Glock 17 slide will not fit on the Glock 47. The new pistol is also compatible with Glock 19X, Glock 17, Glock 34 and Glock 45 magazines.
Like the Glock 19 and Glock 26 pistols adopted by the CBP, the Glock 47 features a flared magwell for faster magazine changes and the match-grade Glock Marksman Barrel (GMB) for enhanced accuracy. It will also be outfitted with Ameriglo BOLD sights.
And that’s all that’s fit to print. Will Glock ever release the Glock 47 to the public? There’s the distinct possibility. However, for the time being, you’ll only see it with CBP law enforcement personnel. For more information, please visit US.Glock.com.
