J.P. Sauer recently announced the shipment of its latest bolt-action hunting platform. The Sauer 505, debuting in Europe last year, now heads to the U.S. market, offering a sleek, elegant high-end bolt-action rifle system for hunters.

J.P. Sauer 505 Rifle

The 505 comes with four different stock options: walnut (wood grade 5), traditional synthetic, synthetic thumbhole or carbon fiber. Each rifle featurtes a robust, lightweight skeletonized steel chassis. Bolt cycling runs smooth, according to J.P. Sauer, while an interchangeable, cold hammer forged precision barrel allows for quick and easy caliber changes.

The J.P. Sauer 505 rifle platform offers four different pre-set trigger weights ranging from 0.77 to 2.75 pounds. The ergonomic manual cocking system proves safe, lightweight, quiet and easy on the thumb. Hunters simply apply slight pressure with the thumb to cock the rifle. Unlocking and unloading in the uncocked position is easy as well.

Sauer has adopted the proven Blaser saddle mount technology for easy and accurate optics mounting. This quick detach mount is designed to ensure the optic can be taken off the Sauer 5 and put back on while maintaining the precise point of aim without having to re-zero the scope. This is a significant advantage for those who travel frequently.

The flush mounted detachable magazine features an integrated MagLock safety which prevents unwanted triggering of the magazine button. Rifle weights range from around 6 pounds with the ultralight carbon fiber stock to heavier weight field options with magnum barrels.
