Ruger American Rifle Generation II

The most popular rifle sold by Ruger creeps slowly closer from just a hunting gun to a baseline tactical rifle. Upgrades from the Gen I include adjustable comb height and length of pull, oversize bolt handle, Cerakote coating, and a three-position safety that can lock the bolt in place so it doesn’t get bumped up and out of battery under hard use. Other great features like a threaded barrel for suppressors or muzzle brakes, removable box magazine, marksman adjustable trigger, and fluted, cold hammer-forged barrel still come standard. Browning X-Bolt 2 Competition Lite Carbon Fiber

Browning X-Bolt 2 rifles were designed with one thing in mind: accuracy. They have taken a hugely successful design and adapted it for both hunting and competition models. This year they introduced the Competition Lite Carbon Fiber that builds off of other models by adding a fluted bolt, MDT magazine, longer guide for the bolt for a smoother action, interchangeable grips for a customized stock, Recoil Hawg muzzle brake, two versions of the bolt handle, and core supports for a stiffer stock. They kept the features like the adjustable DLX trigger, extra capacity magazine, and ARCA rail. Savage 110 Ultralight Elite

Available this year for Savage is their 110 Ultralight Elite. A chassis rifle with a carbon-fiber wrapped Proof Research barrel and carbon-fiber pistol grip, along with folding MDT HNT26 carbon-fiber stock combine to make a full-size, precision rifle that weighs less than 6 pounds. Blackout Cerakoted, stainless steel receiver, adjustable AccuTrigger, Omniport muzzle brake on threaded barrel, adjustable LOP and comb height, 20 MOA Picatinny rail, AICS-style detachable magazine, and three-position safety are just some of its features. CZ 600 MDT

CZ took its 600 series action and placed it into a MDT chassis to dominate in PRS competition. Two models are available (Grey and Deep Bronze), it has an AR-compatible buttstock and pistol grip with AR-style ambi safety switch, AICS pattern magazine with a newly designed follower, full-length ARCA Swiss rail, full-length Picatinny rail, QD sling swivel sockets, M-LOK slots, Cerakote finish, CZ 600 adjustable, single-stage trigger, 24-inch threaded barrel, guaranteed sub-.75 MOA accuracy, and threaded, cold-hammer forged barrel. Aero Precision Solus Competition

New since last year’s SHOT Show, Aero Precision’s Solus Competition Rifle offers a Remington 700 short-action footprint into a modular Solus Chassis. A three-lug bolt head, dual ejectors, 60-degree bolt throw, 20 MOA top rail, adjustable mag catch (for variances in magazine tolerances), 11 QD sling sockets, M-LOK slots at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, fully-adjustable stock, bag rider, AR-15-compatible pistol grip, TriggerTech single-stage trigger, and capable of taking AICS or AIAIW magazines. Faxon FX7 Pershing Bolt Action Rifle

The Faxon FX7 Pershing Bolt Action is a chassis rifle available in .308, 6.5 Creedmoor, and 8.6 Blackout with an MSRP of $2,600. Taurus Expedition

Taurus jumped into the bolt-action world with their Expedition. While it leans more toward a hunting rifle than a true PRS gun, it lies somewhere in the middle realm. It is initially only in .308, it has a Remington 700-style action and trigger, cold-hammer forged 18-inch threaded barrel, three-lug bolt with 60-degree throw, DLC coating on the barrel and action, M-LOK attachment points on the bottom of the stock so a bipod or ARCA rail can be attached, and takes AICS-pattern magazines. Benelli LUPO HPR

Another rifle that falls in the middle of competition and hunting rifle is the new Benelli LUPO HPR (High Precision Rifle). A fully-customizable hybrid stock with cast and drop shims paired with a free-floating, straight fluted, threaded, heavy CRIO barrel and Benelli’s own action. The action has three large size locking lugs with a steel receiver and alloy chassis. A 30-MOA Picatinny for optics, M-LOK attachment points on the fore-end, proprietary detachable magazine, QD sling attachment points, ambidextrous tang safety, and varying weights depending on caliber that hover around 10 pounds. Colt CBX Precision

New since last SHOT Show is the Colt CBX Precision. Available only in .308, it is Colt’s foray into the PRS world. The platinum gray aluminum chassis has a 15-inch forend with ARCA rail, M-LOK slots, AR pistol grip, QD cups, and fully-adjustable LOP and cheek weld. The threaded barrel is button-rifled, black nitride coated with a six-groove rifling and 1:10 twist. The action has a 60-degree throw. MSRP is $1,899. (colt.com)

Mossberg Patriot LR Tactical

Although it was introduced over a year ago, it will soon be available in carbon fiber. The Patriot LR Tactical is currently available in three calibers: .308, 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC with an MSRP of $1,085 for each. Threaded, medium bull barrels are 22 or 24 inches, it has an MDT stock with adjustable LOP and cheek rest, aluminum V-Block bedding, 2-7-pound adjustable trigger, AICS-style magazines, and a 20-MOA Picatinny rail. Black Rain Ordnance BRO-Match

The BRO-Match is a top-of-the-line PRS rifle currently available in 6.5 Creedmoor and 6mm Creedmoor with two more calibers coming. It features a MDT ACC Elite chassis with 19-inch forend with full-length ARCA Rail and M-LOK slots. It uses the new DERECHO three-lug, 4140 hardened alloy steel action with 60-degree bolt throw and switch barrel technology, a TEMPEST self-timing muzzle brake, black PVD Titankote coating, and a TriggerTech Diamond Remington 700 flat straight adjustable trigger that goes from 4 to 32 ounces. Bergara MgMicro Lite

The brand new Bergara MgMicro Lite is the ultimate in lightweight PRS rifles posing as a hunting rifle. It has an ATOM magnesium folding chassis with ARCA rail, carbon-fiber folding buttstock, and adjustable comb height. The 18-inch barrel is their proprietary CURE carbon barrel that uses less heat to make so it doesn’t molecularly affect the steel. The two-lug action and floating bolt head are Nitride treated for durability and self-lubricating properties. Accuracy International AT-XC

If one brand commanded more respect than any other in precision rifles, it would have to be Accuracy International. This year they made some improvements to the ATX and released it as the AT-XC Standard and AT-XC Comp/Pro available in .308 and 6.5 Creedmoor in various length barrels. Like most AI rifles, there are simply too many features to list them all, but they have a newly designed action with three-position safety, six lugs, and a 60-degree bolt lift with enlarged bolt handle. They have cut-rifled competition-grade barrels that can be traded out with an Allen wrench that stores below the cheek rest. Stag Arms Pursuit

Stag Arms made their name in AR rifles, but have crossed over into bolt actions. The Pursuit is available in .308, 6.5 Creedmoor and 6.5 PRC in barrel lengths from 18 to 22 inches. With an MSRP of $1,899.99, this is another crossover between the competitive and hunting world. Built on the Remington 700 footprint, it has a three-lug bolt head, 60-degree throw, adjustable cheek riser and length of pull, 20-MOA Picatinny rail, M-LOK slots on the bottom of the forend, ½-length ARCA rail, single-stage TriggerTech adjustable trigger, takes AICS/AW-compatible magazines, Cerakote finish and sub-MOA guarantee. Detroit Gun Works Hitsville

The Detroit Gun Works Hitsville is a true, purpose-built, PRS rifle. They use their E. Hildale action made from 4340 hardened steel and a three-lug bolt featuring dual ejectors with 60-degree throw. They make their 24-inch barrel chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor from Schnieder barrel blanks and use an Area 419 Hellfire self-timing muzzle brake. The chassis is an MDT ACC Elite with toolless adjustment, full ARCA rail, adjustable thumb rest, adjustable vertical grip, and accessory mounts. Dillon Rifle Company TAC 301

Coming from parent company Dillon Aero, Dillon Rifle Company introduced the TAC 30 rifle in .308 for the competitive/tactical shooter. It uses a Dillon Rifle Co. short action and Greyboe Firearms Tactical Stock. The carbon-fiber stock has an adjustable cheek rest and LOP spacers. Threaded barrels are available in stainless steel or carbon fiber with lengths in 20 to 24 inches and 1:10” twist. The Remington 700-style adjustable trigger is set to 4 pounds. Caracal CSR 308

While the Caracal CSR 308 isn’t a brand new rifle, it is new to the U.S. Chambered in .308, it has a 24-inch barrel and seems to have more in common with an AR rifle than most bolt actions. The foldable stock is four-position telescopic with adjustable cheek rest and comes with an integrated monopod. The forend is free float with Picatinny on top and bottom, but the sides are Keymod. It weighs a little over 11 pounds. It uses SR-25 style magazines, AR-style pistol grips, AR-style safety selector switch and has an adjustable two-stage trigger. MSRP will be $3,850. Fierce Firearms Mountain Reaper

Fierce Firearms has a unique website where you can choose your base model of gun and then customize it with your preferred caliber, Cerakote color, barrel length, scope, rings, case and even slings and bipod. At the same time it shows you what your configuration costs. The Mountain Reaper is another PRS/hunting crossover rifle with ultralight magnesium folding chassis with M-LOK and adjustable cheek rest, Rival two-lug titanium action, 70-degree bolt throw, Bix’n Andy adjustable trigger, Fierce C3 hand-lapped, carbon-fiber barrel, Ergo pistol grip and NIX muzzle brake. Snowy Mountain Rifles Long Range Hunter Pro 4.0

Based in Hamilton, Montana, Snowy Mountain Rifles introduced their lightweight Long Range Hunter Pro 4.0 with a XLR Element 4.0 magnesium chassis with full-length ARCA rail, Defiance Anti-X action, Bartlein carbon-fiber barrel, adjustable cheek piece, SMR Flex System magazine and an average weight of 7 pounds. Upgrades include a folding stock and titanium muzzle brake. Guaranteed sub-½-MOA accuracy with target and load data included. New for SHOT Show 2024, Rock River Arms continues to expand its tactical bolt lineup with the XM-24.
