We debated whether or not we wanted to put Lauren Young on the We Like Shooting podcast. Let’s face it — they’re animals. Things were bound to get weird; and it took about five minutes before they did.

In all sincerity, Lauren and the We Like Shooting crew were a perfect fit, tackling everything from her career in the military to the concept of a gun bunny.”

“A lot of people on Instagram like to throw around the term ‘gun bunny.’ You’re legit. You deployed as an MP. I’m sure you still get it though,” Shawn said. “What are your thoughts on that?”

“It bothered me at first because it didn’t make sense to me. I was like, ‘How is that me?’ OK, I’ll pose in photos with guns but that doesn’t mean I don’t shoot them,” Lauren answered. “… People just like to talk shit. Even if they don’t believe it, they’ll say it just to be relevant and get people to like their comment.”

Props to Shawn for also setting Lauren up for a shameless plug on her work with Athlon Outdoors and Ballistic Magazine, including the recent 2018 Athlon Outdoors Rendezvous.

“Being able to do that and being able to be like, ‘Yeah, this is my job,’ I think that’s pretty cool,” Lauren said. “A lot of people shoot guns as a hobby, but when you can shoot as a hobby but also make it your career, I’m pretty thankful for that.”
