Console Vault’s flagship product is the Vehicle Vault. These are made for almost every vehicle make, from Ford to Toyota to Nissan to Cadillac. Many U.S. government agencies, such as the CIA, the FBI and the U.S. Marshals, use these vaults to protect weapons and information. You and I can use these vaults to protect electronics, cash and self-defense firearms, too. Each Vehicle Vault is made right here in the United States. They’re constructed of 12-gauge steel and come with a drill-resistant lock, making it extremely difficult (and time consuming) for anyone to access your vault once they have broken into your vehicle. Another big benefit of the Vehicle Vault is that it’s easy to install. These vaults easily install in about 10 minutes and you don’t have to have any technical skills to be able to do it.
In addition to the console vaults, the company makes a portable handgun safe called the Gun Transporter. The Gun Transporter is 7.5 by 12 inches in size and has enough space to store a full-sized handgun and a few spare magazines. Like the Vehicle Vault, it’s made of 12-gauge steel, which means the safe weighs 9 pounds when empty. The reason that I use the Gun Transporter is because it uses a keyless combination lock and doesn’t require any batteries. A big bonus of the Gun Transporter is that it has a built-in cable that retracts right back into the safe when not in use. This safe can be used in vehicles and it’s easily hidden because you can wrap the cable around the seat and then hide the safe underneath it to add another level of mobile security.
A larger version of the Gun Transporter is the Security Briefcase. Remember how I said the Gun Transporter weighs 9 pounds when empty? Well, the Security Briefcase weighs 14 pounds because it’s made of even thicker, 16-gauge steel. It also comes with a steel cable so that you can secure it in a vehicle or other place. The steel cable is rated for 4,200 pounds, meaning it’s going to take a person a lot stronger than you and I to get past it. Also, because the Security Briefcase weighs a lot, the owner of Console Vault, Tom Duengel, said the company had to go to Italy to find the right handles. The handle is a ballistic-nylon-reinforced strap, and the outside of the strap is a flexible, molded rubber handle that makes carrying the case more comfortable.
Another company that can help you secure your firearms on the go is Tuffy Security Products. It makes vaults for vehicle consoles, truck beds, underneath the bench seats in trucks and for glove boxes. The company also produces portable safes, including the Laptop Security Computer Lockbox, which an also work for firearms and documents.
Tuffy Security Products also manufactures Under Rear Seat Lockboxes, which are large enough for long guns.
The Conceal Carry Valuables Tote by Tuffy Security Products is designed to secure and transport a handgun between the home, office and in a vehicle.
Tuffy Security Products uses quality materials to secure your valuables, with many of its products being made of 16-gauge steel, including the Tablet Safe.
If you need to haul a variety of gear in your pickup truck, SUV or sedan, then TruckVault has several offerings to secure a variety of handguns, rifles and accessories in the field. The vault created for sedans is called the TrunkVault. Law enforcement and private citizens alike use it to secure weapons and gear in a mounted, lockable case that still allows you to use your trunk for everyday tasks.
TruckVault also produces the TruckTuff Dog Kennel, so if you’re looking for a state-of-the-art kennel that also offers concealed weapons storage for your hunting rifles or other firearms underneath, then you’re in luck.
When I worked for the government, we had console vaults in our Suburbans so that we could secure our firearms and any classified material that needed to be locked up. Little did I know that several years later I’d discover that the owner of Console Vault lives in the same town that I do, and that I’d have a chance to personally check out the long list of products his company makes (currently 76 and counting). Some of them are included in the gallery above. The bottom line is, you and I are very lucky to have so many options when it comes to securing our firearms whether directly in our vehicle or via a portable safe. This means that none of us have any excuse for allowing an unauthorized person access to our guns. Any of the gun safes and vaults mentioned here will help you keep your self-defense firearms secure and ready when you need them.
