Meprolight has long been a trusted name in illuminated sights and battle-proven optics, but in 2025, they’re coming back with a vengeance. The MPO series—particularly the MPO PRO-S—is a bold statement from Meprolight. The company is not just in the game; it’s here to win. Featuring rock-solid construction, innovative reticle options, and no-nonsense quality control, the MPO PRO-S isn’t just another pistol optic. It’s the tip of the spear for Meprolight’s resurgence in the U.S. market.
The Meprolight MPO PRO-S
At SHOT Show 2025, I had the chance to grill Meprolight’s U.S. warehouse manager about its quality control process. I was genuinely impressed. Meprolight pulls 10% of every production batch for quality control testing before units ever hit distribution. That’s a level of scrutiny you rarely see in this space.

Even more impressive? Their approach to warranty claims. Rather than dragging customers through an endless back-and-forth, they’re outright replacing optics when issues arise. This combination of meticulous quality control and top-tier customer service puts them in a different league.
But enough about corporate philosophy—let’s talk about the MPO PRO-S itself.
An Optic with a Purpose
The Meprolight MPO PRO-S is a compact red dot optic designed for defensive, duty, and competition use. With a rock-solid aluminum housing, an ultra-clear lens, and an emitter that adjusts well in different lighting conditions, this optic brings serious performance to the table.

The standout feature here is the multiple reticle system. Most red dots give you a dot and call it a day. However, Meprolight has taken a different approach, offering a ghost ring option and a hybrid setting. This adds versatility that most shooters will appreciate, particularly those running drills at varying distances or running this on other platforms altogether.
Mounted on a Revolver? Hell Yes.
At this point, it’s no secret that I love wheelguns. So, while most people are slapping the MPO PRO-S onto a semi-auto pistol, I had a different idea—mount it on my custom Taurus 692.
For those unfamiliar, the 692 is a convertible revolver that allows you to swap between a .357/.38 cylinder and a 9mm cylinder at the push of a button. That level of versatility makes it an outstanding platform. So, I was curious to see how the MPO PRO-S would complement it.
Turns out this was a match made in heaven. The optic’s auto-adjusting brightness handled every lighting condition I threw at it. Likewise, the ghost ring reticle made quick acquisition effortless. For a revolver—where sight radius can sometimes be a limiting factor—an optic like this makes a massive difference.

Carrying a revolver with a red dot might sound unconventional. However, thanks to Erik Stringley at Side Guard Holsters, I had a proper OWB holster, making it viable for carry. I ran this rig while teaching my red dot pistol classes. It performed just as well as any semi-auto setup I’ve used.
If you’ve been hesitant about optics on revolvers, the MPO PRO-S is a great reason to give it a shot.
Night Vision & Low-Light Performance
Meprolight claims their MPO optics are fully night-vision compatible, and in my experience, they actually deliver. Many optics advertise NV compatibility but don’t truly function at usable brightness levels. The MPO PRO-S does.
Whether running passive aiming techniques or using it in low-light scenarios, the dot remains crisp and visible. Likewise, it doesn’t bloom out the way lesser optics tend to under NVG use.

For those who train in low-light scenarios (which should be everyone serious about defensive shooting), this optic holds up where others struggle. Running this at night with a handheld flashlight, I found the auto-adjusting brightness smoothly transitions as light conditions change. Correspondingly, the ability to manually dial settings ensures you can fine-tune it to your needs.
Meprolight is Doing It Right
After spending significant time with the MPO PRO-S, I can confidently say Meprolight is hitting hard here. The company’s approach to quality control is setting a new industry standard, its warranty service is customer-first, and the optics themselves are just flat-out impressive.
The MPO PRO-S is rugged, versatile, and competitively priced, making it a serious contender in the pistol optic space. Whether you’re running a semi-auto, a revolver (like I did), or just looking for an optic that punches above its weight, this is one to consider.
I’ve got some rifle optics/LPVOs from Meprolight coming in next. If they perform anything like the MPO PRO-S, I expect to be just as impressed. If you’re in the market for a red dot that delivers, Meprolight deserves your attention.
Stay safe, train hard, and if you’re considering a new optic, take a hard look at Meprolight. You won’t be disappointed. Shoot Safe.
