Ohio Ordnance REAPR: Belt-Fed 338 Machine Gun Fits in Backpack!

A new machine gun from Ohio Ordnance dropped recently, and it certainly caught our eye. The Ohio Ordnance REAPR (Recoil Enhanced Automatic Precision Rifle) comprises a belt-fed machine gun platform chambered in .338 Norma Magnum. Better still, the entire system breaks down small enough to fit into a backpack for the mobile operator.

Ohio Ordnance REAPR Details

Designed to exceed SOCOM specifications, the REAPR appears to include so pretty unique innovation. Also designed with a 7.62 NATO conversion kit, the REAPR is a highly portable battlefield system. It breaks down into three major component in under 10 seconds, according to Ohio Ordnance, with toolless field stripping and one-handed barrel changes. And the ability to fit into a pack defies most expectations of a full-auto belt-fed.

Editor’s Take:

You don’t really need to have any military experience to appreciate what we’re seeing here with the REAPR. But for our folks that did hump Maw Deuce and tripods all over creation, the breakdown capability into three major components without tools, not to mention fitting into a pack, really blow us away. We love the precision aspects of the .338 Norma Mag. But we greatly appreciate the 7.62 conversion kit, given the realities of ammo requirements on the battlefield. We’re not sure we’ll ever get one of these in for review anytime soon, but we’ll keep our eye open for semi-auto-only variants to hit the civilian market. If they do, we’ll be all over it and report our findings to you here!
