SIG Sauer hit a momentous company milestone recently with the Modular Handgun System (MHS). SIG announced the production of the 200,000th MHS pistol. The historic mark also came during the first month SIG Sauer simultaneously delivered M17/M18 pistols to all branches of the U.S. military.

“These milestones are a testament to SIG’s ability to adapt and succeed amidst the extraordinary circumstances we have faced throughout this pandemic. Our supply chain was challenged, and the strength of our manufacturing systems has proven that we will, without hesitation, continue to outpace the stringent demands of the delivery schedule of the MHS program,” said Ron Cohen, President & CEO of SIG SAUER. “Throughout this period, our factory operations and our employees have been faced with unimaginable adversity. Despite the unpredictability, we continue to consistently deliver M17 and M18 pistols that surpass the requirements for accuracy, and exceed expectations for both quality and reliability, to ensure our nations soldiers are prepared for the rigors of the battlefield.”
The MHS includes the M17 Full-Size and M18 Compact pistols. The P320-based, striker-fired platform comes in 9mm. It features coyote tan PVD coated stainless steel slides and black controls. Each comes with SIGLITE front night sights and removable night sight rear plates. A manual safety also comes standard.
We first reported SIG winning the XM17 MHS contract in January 2017. Since then, all branches of the U.S. military chose the platform as well. Then in November 2019, SIG hit the 100,000 mark with the platform. For more information, visit sigsauer.com.
