Here’s the Latest on the Spike’s Tactical Recluse Upper for LEOs

Spike’s Tactical has announced that its Recluse—an integrally suppressed, 9mm AR upper—has received a U.S. patent.

Like other pistol caliber carbines, the Spike’s Tactical Recluse is interchangeable with Glock and Colt 9mm mags. As Spike’s points out in the press release, the Glock 17 9mm is the most popular police pistol worldwide. Essentially, the Recluse allows LEOs to use the same ammo and mags in their rifle as their sidearm.

“We’re very excited about receiving this patent,” said Spike’s Tactical’s Randy Myers. “This particular upper receiver will serve as a versatile tool, particularly for law enforcement and emergency service personnel.”

The Spike’s Tactical Recluse can also be purchased by the general public. It sports an integral barrel-nut-mounted suppressor. The barrel nut and forward tube are permanently attached. This extends the OAL to over 16 inches. In addition, the Recluse features a tensioned 6.75-inch barrel supported by the suppressor at either end. This, the company says, ensures “perfect” alignment between the barrel and suppressor, thereby boosting accuracy and eliminating baffle strikes.

Furthermore, the Recluse reduces velocity of ammunition below the speed of sound. This eliminates the need for sub-sonic ammo. Meanwhile, you only need one NFA tax stamp to own this bad boy.

“The Recluse is a very special, efficient weapon,” Myers added. “By only requiring one NFA tax stamp and not requiring sub-sonic ammunition means money saved in the long run. This is one of the most unique pistol-caliber ARs on the market.”

The complete Spike’s Tactical Recluse rifle is priced at $2,230. The upper by itself will run you $1,765. The lower is set at $465. Check out the specs below.
