Springfield Hellcat Earns Highest Ranking

The Hellcat joins a small, exclusive group of firearms deemed deserving of the NTOA’s law enforcement-oriented MTR program. The Hellcat scored 4.75 out of possible 5.00 during testing by a team of hand-selected law enforcement officer. The score put the pistol in the top “gold” scoring range.

During testing, one law enforcement reviewer applied water and a heavy amount of dish soap to the Hellcat’s grip area. It simulated a bloody hand grasping the firearm. “The weapon remained secure in my hand and did not slide,” the reviewer noted. “The stippling is on par with other weapons I own that have been professionally stippled by well-known aftermarket gunsmiths.”

Another reviewer stress-tested the Hellcat with a punishing test of packing the empty pistol with with clay and snow. They next spiked the pistol onto hard, compacted dirt and threw it several feet numerous times. The striker never released during these tests, according to Springfield. The officer then loaded and fired the pistol with no loss of zero and no malfunctions.
