A couple of years ago, Heritage Manufacturing introduced its Rough Rider Rancher carbine. Compatible with .22 LR and .22 Magnum cylinders, the carbine was not only practical but a lot of fun to shoot. And now, Heritage offers the Rancher platform in a tactical carbine version for an old-west meets modern mashup.
The Heritage Tactical Rancher Carbine
Building on an aluminum alloy frame, the Tactical Rancher features a black oxide finish, adding to the aesthetics and longevity. Housed within the frame is the interchangeable alloy steel cylinder with black oxide finish. Correspondingly, the Tactical Rancher accepts both .22 LR and .22 Magnum rounds and delivers a 6-round capacity.
Like the Rough Rider, the Tactical Rancher trigger guard features a lower hook for comfortable placement of your support hand. Likewise, rounds are sent downrange via a crisp, single-action target trigger.
A 16.12-inch 8-groove hammer-forged barrel with 1:16” RH twist delivers peak accuracy and resilience, according to the company. Additionally, the barrel is threaded for attaching a suppressor or other muzzle device. However, the included thread protector keeps the threads safe when no muzzle device is attached.
Although there is no front sight to align with the notched rear, a six-slot Picatinny rail allows for the attachment of an optic or other accessory.
The Tactical Rancher is shouldered via the Black Beech stock with stippled sides at the grip area. In addition, the stock includes a sling attachment point that couples with the attachment point on the barrel.
