The following is the ninth segment of Beast Master Hunting‘s “Kill of the Month.” Each month, Nick Atkinson, founder of Beast Master Hunting, will provide the Ballistic audience with first-hand video of his hunts. Enjoy!

This video was recorded using an extreme zoom Canon camera, with the first shot at 440 yards and the second at 795 yards. There are two shooters in each clip. The first clip only shows one of the pigs in frame, with the other being out of view. The second clip shows both shots fired at the same pig.

The equipment used includes a Beast Master Hunting rifle and the new Beast Master Hunting load in 6.5 Creedmoor, produced by Highland Lakes Ammunition.

During the summer months, hunting slows down quite a bit. Luckily for us in Texas, wild pigs are fair game year round. Like much of the ranch land here, hogs are a problem. This particular property is leased out to deer hunters, but as you can see in the hog hunting video above, it might as well be a hog lease.

Long-Distance Hog Hunting

After hiking up to the top of a West Texas plateau, we waited for the deer feeders to go off. Shortly after the dinner bell rang, the corn thieves made an appearance. The first group of pigs came into a feeder that was about 440 yards from our vantage point. We picked out two of the pigs, dialed the dope and let them have it. A perfect shot on the pig in frame dropped him in his tracks.

A short while later, another group of pigs emerged from the trees at a feeder 795 yards out. This time, we lined up two pigs perfectly. We made the quick decision to both shoot the front pig and hope to have a pass through to the second. Just like all feral hogs in Texas, any shot on a pig is a good shot. If you watch closely, you can see trace from both rounds, followed by one impact near it’s liver and the other just in front of that. A 795-yard shot with an 8-to-12 mile per hour cross wind, with two hits — success!
