Editor’s Take:

Cowboy guns are seriously on the rise. We’ve hit the perfect confluence of influences, from the popularity of “Yellowstone” to cumbersome gun laws in restrictive locales, all merging to usher in a new wave of interest in all things Old West. Lever-action rifles and single-action revolvers are booming once again, and companies like Pietta have a strong reputation for making modern day replicas of Old West classics.

Chambered in .44 Rem Mag, this 1873 variant truly provides some real world versatility as well. It makes a strong case as a defender chambered in a formidable fight-stopping caliber. Doubling down on that theme, with the right bullet selection, the big .44 can produce as a game getter as well, not to mention a solid multi-purpose ranch gun for all the above and more. If you’re looking to Cowboy Up, this one could be a good choice.
