Taurus Deputy Blends Old West Style With Modern Enhancements

There’s a new sheriff in town–er, make that a deputy anyway. The Taurus Deputy debuted at SHOT Show, bringing a well-executed take on the timeless single-action pistol blending an Old West look with modern touches for today’s shooting enthusiasts, Cowboy Action Shooters and collectors.

Taurus Deputy Details

The Taurus Deputy comprises a single-action revolver platform chambered in either .45 Colt or .357 Magnum. It features a high-gloss finish to give it a classic appeal. But the pistol comes with some modern manufacturing touches for the contemporary shooter.

The traditional-style single-action hammer sits within reach of the thumb for single-handed shooting. Meanwhile, the half-moon front sight delivers that timeless look of the single actions of yesteryear. Presentation-grade polymer grips feature the Taurus logo, which provides a nice touch.

The Deputy retails for $606. For more info, visit taurususa.com.

Editor’s Take:

Now this is a pretty cool entry into the market. The Deputy brings an old school look with the high-gloss polish and half-moon front sight. But it also employs a transfer bar safety and comes chambered for readily available .45 Colt or .357 Mag. Cowboy Action Shooters get a new competition gun, or make this a fun one just to plink with on the range. Everyone needs a single-action or two in the stable; Taurus just gave us another option.
