VIDEO: Body Camera Captures Duluth LEO Saving Suicidal Man

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OT8QfJOUuk

Duluth police officer Joe DeJesus responded to a call on Sept. 15 of a male in crisis threatening to jump off a downtown parking ramp.

Quick thinking allowed DeJesus to rescue the man, while the officer’s body camera captured the entire incident.

DeJesus talks with the man, asking for his name and why he wants to jump.

While speaking with the man, DeJesus asks him if he wants a cigarette. DeJesus grabs one from his car and hands it to the man, which allows him to get close enough to pull the man off of the ledge.

Duluth Police Chief Gordon Ramsay posted the following statement on his Facebook page:

This is an example of the life saving work our officers do every day. The male was taken in for help and was uninjured thanks to the excellent work by Officer DeJesus.
